Dragonball Super Episode 1 Review

After defeating Majin Buu, life is peaceful once again. Ordered by Chi-chi to earn money, Goku works even as he wants to train even more. Meanwhile, Goten, about to become a brother-in-law to Videl, sets out on a journey with Trunks to find her a present.

First thing I have to say is welcome back Dragonball universe. Dragonball Super brings you  right back effortless with the style of show that we are used to seeing. This episode has no action except one scene with Trunks and Goten taking on a snake. However this episode is doing what I excepted it to do and that's build up to the battle. As previously stated in the synopsis Goku is force to earn some money, because Chi-Chi is tired of Goku not being a breadwinner. He takes a job as a farmer (apparently) and decides to let Goten do the work as he trains (great parenting). It's a nice setup and great character arc to show how Goku is not comfortable with life if he's not fighting. He's a pure blooded saiyan, he needs battle and the normal lifestyle his not his style. It's nice to see Goku actually struggling with normal life. It brought great humor and the use of that comedic element work well in this episode. Other story elements like Beerus running around blowing up planets, Gohan getting married worked well. The show seems to be leading up to the Battle of Gods. I just hope it doesn't take 30 episodes to lead up to what happens after the movie. Overall the first episode is a big welcome back to Dragonball. The show was fun, the story is building up to Beerus and Gohan wedding I'm hoping we get a whole episode to it. A lot of potential and characterization in this show coming. It's time for all us to get back into Dragonball Universe.
