Akashic Records of Bastard Magical Instructor: Episode 1 The Unmotivated Bastard (Review)

The Alzano Imperial Magic Academy is located in the southern part of the Alzano Empire, and is among most prominent magic schools in the world, where students can learn the highest forms of magic. All those who strive to learn magic dream of studying at this academy, and its students as well as its teachers are proud to be a part of its 400-year history. Glenn Radars is a new instructor who has suddenly been appointed to teach part-time at this highly respected academy. The previously unheard-of lessons of this man known as a good-for-nothing bastard are about to begin.

Akashic Records of Bastard Magical Instructor is off to good but cliche start. It is an action comedy anime in the realm of magic. The episode introduces to our two main female lead Sistia and Rumia. Sistia is a member of the family who has a history with the school. Her family has a legacy in the school. She prides herself of holding a certain status and honor when it comes to her education. The school she attends is Alzano Imperial Academy.  The school is the top of its class for magic users. Only the best and brightest are able to attend this establishment. The problem for Sistia is that her new teacher Glenn Radars has no respect ot care for his job. Glenn is the new substitute teacher and let's just say he is not up to the task.  Glenn is a lazy, uninspired slacker who I just can't stop watching. Glenn is the character that holds the show together. Its because of his chemistry with Rumia and Sistia and how they play off each other is what makes the show works.

As an comedy I did experience some genuine laughs with Glenn interactions with other characters. He is more of physical comedy more than jokes. His facial expressions are animated nicely and the younger audience will get a chuckle out of it. Unfortunately the show so far doesn't really stand out from the typical fish out of water anime. You have cliches that make you say okay I saw this coming. The cliches are the unecessary fan service in the locker room and the guy walking in on the girls. The female lead eithe constantly hitting or in this case using magic on the male lead when angry. Its nothing you haven't seen before but even with the cliches I'm still invested because Glenn is so entertaining

Overall Akashic Records of Bastard Magical Instructor doesn't really offer up anything to new under the sun. However its two leads are entertaining enough that I will stay tune to see if Glenn will ever get it together and become responsible.
