At Pepcom, Midland showed us their outdoor emergency products like the ER-40 radio and the X-Talker Walkie-Talkies.
The ER40 is an emergency crank radio that come with batteries that can recharge either via the built-in solar panel or a handcrank in desperate situations. In addition to AM/FM radio, it also receives NOAH national weather service information.
The battery is a rechargeable (and replaceable) 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery that -in an emergency- can be used to give your phone a little juice. The flashlight can also strobe an S.O.S. signal.
The X-Talker Extreme T77VP5 is a 2-way radio (walkie-talkie) with a range of up to 38 miles in open areas and 36 channels to choose from to avoid intereference. It’s also got a weather alert radio built-in and comes with everything you need to get started, including charger, cables, batteries and carry case. If your batteries go flat, and can always use 3 AA batteries in their stead.
