UFC 182 Bad Blood: Jones vs Comier Results

UFC 182 Main Card

Welterweight

#6 Hector Lombard (35-4-1, 1NC) vs Josh Burkman (27-11-0)

Lombard wins by decision

Burkman showed a surprising durability throughout the fight but wasn't enough to get the win. Lombard though surprised me as well by not showing complete domination. As much as how physically intimidating he looks, he won't be a champion with that kind of performance.

Flyweight

#11 Kyoji Horiguchi (15-1-0) vs Louis Gaudinot (7-4-0)

Horiguchi wins by decision

Horiguchi showed such an amazing speed with his movement that Gaudinot was always a step behind. Gaudinot didn't show enough urgency either and that cost him dearly.

Middleweight

#15 Brad Tavares (13-4-0) vs Nate Marquardt (36-14-2)

Tavares wins by decision

Quite the lackluster fight this was. Both fighters didn't show enough aggression. Tavares had plenty of chances to pull the trigger and finish Marquardt but didn't have the killer instinct tonight. On the other hand, Marquardt just doesn't seem to have it in him anymore and I really believe it's time for him to retire.

Lightweight

#4 Donald Cerrone (26-6-0, 1NC) vs #8 Myles Jury (15-1-0)

Cerrone wins by decision

I never should have doubted my boy, Cerrone on this fight. He totally schooled Jury tonight. He looked particularly angry towards the end of third round by the way he was kicking Jury on the ground, like kicking a soccer ball to outer space. I loved it! Jury's strategy to take Cerrone down early in the first round backfired on him as Cerrone showcased smart grappling. Cerrone should now be next in line for a title fight.

Light Heavyweight Title Fight

(C) Jon Jones (21-1-0) vs #2 Daniel Comier (15-1-0)

Jones wins by decision to retain the title

Fight of the night hands down! What a fight! Back and forth action. Incredible display of tenacity on Comier's part and great display of techniques on Jones' part. But just as I predicted, Jones won the fight by utilizing his height and reach advantage. Comier definitely gave him a run for his money though with vicious uppercuts throughout the fight. Jones' though, known to hold the record for the most eye-pokes ever, did not disappoint tonight by adding another one to his record. These guys genuinely hate each other, for real! They were still punching each other after the bell on couple of occasions and at the end of the last round, Jones raised his hands to declare victory with 10 seconds left while Comier was still holding on to him. Comier let go as to acknowledged that he lost with 2 more seconds left but all of a sudden, Jones sucker punched him and Comier retaliated by landing couple more punches after the bell. Jones gave Comier the DX "suck it" gesture after. During the interview, Jones made it known that he really doesn't like Comier.

And their you have it folks! The main card fights all went the distance, very disappointing to some degree but still not bad to start 2015. See you next time!
