News: SK hynix Unveils “Gold S31” Consumer Solid-State Drive on Amazon

We’ve known SK hynix as one of the biggest memory and semiconductor manufacturers on planet Earth – mostly as OEM for big brand names like Apple. But this time, they’re out with SSDs under their own banner.

It’s called the Gold S31 SSD and comes in 1TB, 500GB & 250GB sizes. Interface is SATA III with 560MB/s read and 525MB/s write.

The exciting part is, all the key components are designed & built in-house, including the controller. This is a soup to nuts operation folks, they control everything end-to-end, ensuring optimal (in theory) performance – and it comes with a 5 year warranty!

Gold S31 SSD Offers Best Performance and Quality for PC 

Seoul, August 15, 2019 – SK hynix Inc. (or ‘the Company,’ www.skhynix.com) announced today the launch of its “Gold S31” solid-state drive (SSD). Gold S31 (SATA III – first generation) is the first of the Company’s new SuperCore series of consumer SSDs, an internal drive lineup based on SK hynix’s core technology.

With its speed and reliability, SK hynix’s Gold S31 will be a perfect choice for all PC users, particularly for gamers, designers, and content creators. Gold S31 pushes the limits on high-performance SSDs, providing users the next level of speed with sequential read speeds up to 560MB/s, as well as superior quality, reliability, and five-year warranty.

The 2.5-inch drive supports the SATA III interface based on 3D NAND Flash technology, and is now available in 1TB, 500GB and 250GB capacities on Amazon U.S.

All key components in Gold S31, from NAND Flash and built-in controller to DRAM and firmware, were designed and produced by SK hynix. The in-house components are built for robust performance and reliability.

Gold S31 will be offered exclusively on Amazon U.S. this year, but is expected to expand to other North American and European markets starting next year, when a PCIe version of the SSD can also be expected.

The Walking Dead- Director Greg Nicotero tapped for New Spawn Movie

“The Walking Dead” Director and Effects Specialist, Greg Nicotero has been tapped for Todd McFarlane’s New “Spawn”  Movie
 
Nicotero, an award-winning executive producer, director, and make-up special effects creator on THE WALKING DEAD has come on board, with his company KNB EFX, to create the new Spawn design for the upcoming McFarlane/ Blumhouse Spawn feature film.
 
McFarlane, Nicotero and KNB EFX Group,  worked together on the 1997 Spawn movie.  
“I'm a long-time fan of Greg’s work and the projects his company, KNB have done throughout the years,” said McFarlane “Working with him once again, to re-invent the Spawn 'look' so it will match the supernatural theme in the movie, is going to be a fun process.”  
 
This year, McFarlane has announced an ensemble of award-winning talent that has signed on to the Spawn Movie Cast –  Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained, The Amazing Spider-man) has been cast as Spawn and Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker, Wind River, The Avengers) has been tapped to play Twitch.  

This newest adaptation—a gritty, R-rated reimagining marks McFarlane’s film directorial debut. McFarlane is partnering with Jason Blum and Blumhouse Productions, the producing force behind recent hits Get Out and Split and The Purge franchise, to develop a feature film around the Spawn comic character created by McFarlane

The Walking Dead Cast Ryan Hurst

Sons of Anarchy alum Ryan Hurst has been cast as Beta in The Walking Dead season 9, according to TheWrap.

In comic books Beta is the second in command of the Whisperers, zombie survivors who hide from the undead by wearing suits of flesh.

The Walking Dead's ninth season is scheduled to begin October 7.
