5 Reasons To Be Excited For 'We Are Robin'

April is around the corner which means it going to be the start of DC Convergence. What is DC Convergence? It's a huge storyline that will change the face of the NEW 52 and DC Comics forever. The plot involves Brainiac trapping cities from different universes, timelines and bringing them into domes to a planet outside of time and space. Brainiac's attempts to see what happens when all these worlds, timelines and universes collide. The story will also feature the Pre 52 Flashpoint characters. What does Convergence have to do with 'We Are Robin'? Well it was announce that the 'We Are Robin' story will happen after the convergence. What is 'We Are Robin'. Let me explain from what I know and then I will tell you why we here at Otakus & Geeks are excited for it.

'We Are Robin' focuses on Duke Thomas, an African-American teenager who was introduced as a child that helped Bruce Wayne during Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's "Zero Year" storyline. Thomas returned to the pages of "Batman" in "Endgame," when the Joker killed his parents in a recreation of the Waynes' murder. A grown Thomas also appeared in costume as Robin in Ray Fawkes and Dustin Nguyen's "Batman and Robin: Futures End" one-shot in 2014.

1.  Diversity/Street Perspective - One thing I'm really liking about this story is that you will have Robin as a symbol. The symbol similar to Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. This book is going to focus not just on Duke Thomas but other street kids of Gotham taking a stand for what's right.

2. The Art Style - We only have one picture of 'We Are Robin' and already I'm loving the tone of this comic. I love the fact that we're getting a gang of Robin's all together for a single a cause. This art style can take the book to many different directions, it's looks gritty, dark and hopefully the story will compliment that. The art by Rob Haynes and Khary Randolph should get fans excited.

3. Lee Bermejo - One of my favorite Batman stories is the Batman: Noel. It combine the style of a Christmas Carol with a Batman touch. Lee Bermejo wrote and drew the book giving one of Batman's best costumes in a long time. The story was grounded in reality and really played with the gritty tone of Gotham. I believe Lee Bermejo will use the same feel for 'We Are Robin', giving us a thought provoking, gritty story with great characterization, environments to tell the tale and wonderful costume designs.

4. Possible Return of Previous Robin's - Bermejo hasn't ruled out the other Robin's of the past to make an appearance. How awesome would it be to see Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne and Stephanie Brown training and commanding their own Robin unit's. Imagine a Robin for each section in Gotham or each city like Coast or Central City. The idea of all Robin's returning back is too much for a DC fan to handle.

5. It's Robin!!! - As much as I like Batman I always found Robin more interesting. Robin's always seem to have great story arch's. Writers treat Robin just as important and sometimes more important than Batman. Now we finally get to see how the symbol and work of Robin affects street kids in Gotham. How has Robin spark a change? This is something I'm looking forward too.
