Deadline is reporting that Rush leading man Tom Ellis has been cast as the title character of Fox's drama Lucifer. Based on the comics interpretation of the character as seen in the DC/Vertigo series The Sandman and Lucifer, this live-action one-hour drama has Underworld's Len Wiseman as executive producer and pilot director with Tom Kapinos as writer. The series is being produced by Wanrer Bros. TV and Jerry Bruckheimer TV.

Deadline states that the series will find Ellis' Lucifer as "bored and unhappy" in his role as Lord of Hell, and promptly resigns his position to relocate to Los Angeles. There, he finds entertainment in helping the local police department "punish criminals."
