Groot #1 Review

After leaving his homeworld to explore the galaxy, Groot joined a band of ragtag adventurers calling themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy. Groot has convinced his best pal and fellow guardian, Rocket Raccoon, to take an intergalactic roadtrip. They’re off to a bit of a rough start.

Groot #1 is everything I thought I would expect from a book dedicated to the limited speaking Guardian of The Galaxy.  It’s a fun, hilarious and action pack with a great set up and characters. As stated on in the synopsis above. Groot decides that he wants to go to earth, and drags Rocket along for the ride.  When they ship has engine trouble on the way the earth. Groot and Rocket decide to do a little bit of hitchhiking. Unfortunately things don’t go as well for them; each person that picks them up encounters so type of problem. One encounters space sharks, the other were a bunch of crazies and the other one well I will save that DC reference for you to enjoy.  The issue is well written with laugh out loud moments with each panel. The relationship between Groot and Rocket is truly one of the best duo in the Marvel Universe.  The chemistry is always spot on between these characters and the way the dialogue is written for Rocket I can clearly hear Bradley Cooper delivering the lines.  Overall the story is solid and gives fans exactly what they expect from a Groot and Rocket tale, mischief, mayhem, action and a whole bunch of comedy. With great artwork by Brian Kesinger that really brings out the wonderful script by Jeff Loveness, this series is one of the great ones to add to your collection.
