First Brood: Greenhouse (First Brood: Tales of the Lilim Book 2) by Lenni (Book Review)

Free of her guild, the former dreamhunter Darjeeling wants to leave everything behind her. But traces of her old life remain and they are hunting her down. What strange new powers will these hunters posses and will Auris have to protect the woman he once hunted?

Escalation would be the best way to describe Lilim Book 2. As stated in the synopsis Darjeeling has left her guild and is trying to leave the old life behind. However like anybody trying to start a new, the past usually tries to comeback for old finish business. The second installment of First Brood is fun, fantastic read. While the first book introduce the characters, setup and establish the mythos of the world and plant seeds for book 2. Book 2 takes everything you love from the first expands on it, adds more dimension and layers to the characters and ups the ante. Where First Brood succeeds is adding more depth to Darjeeling and Auris. I like the dilemma of the former hunter becoming the hunted. It adds more depth and intensity and made me wonder what is Auris going to do  in all of this.

The second book has a total chapter count of 45. Lenni wisely gives each character separate chapters. This allows us to explore each arc then weaves all together for the final chapters. I find this style more easy to understand each arc, it gives each character love and detail and the ending leaves you waiting for book 3. If you like a different  take on vampires, demons, angel and the mysticism of all. Check out the First Brood series.
