SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris Impressions (Anime NYC 2019)

At Anime NYC I had the pleasure to check out the latest offerings from Bandai Namco. They had a variety of choices from One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, Tokyo Ghoul and Sword Art Online. I decided to check out Sword Art Online since One Punch Man and My Hero Academia lines were long. I have a history of playing Sword Art Online and I was quite satisfied with Fatal Bullet. However, this latest entry seems to bring Sword Art Online back to form. The demo attendees were able to play gave you two choices. Players were able to choose from exploring the field or taking part in a dungeon mission. I decided to explore the map/field.

Graphics: If I were to compare the graphics of this game to any other Sword Art Online title, this one hand down is the best looking good. The character models have a major upgrade compare to the Fatal Bullet. The environments and backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous and it doesn’t look bland or generic like previous entries in the series.

Gameplay: The gameplay returns back to its hack n slash roots with the ability to switch to other members of your team at will. Walking around the map I encounter low-level enemies as Kirito and was able to execute combos easily while switching to other characters. The combat felt very great and it was easy to execute basic and special attacks.
