Shadows Are Alive Impressions

By Justin D Williams

Step into the spooky world of Shadows Are Alive, where relentless suspense meets an ever-evolving survival horror. As the mansion's walls shift and secrets unravel, can you keep your wits about you?

Shadows Are Alive is a multiplayer game similar to what you would see in such titles such as Dead by Deadlight. Players will investigate a particular map and have to stay away from the enemy known as The Shift. The game’s graphics is one of the bright spots with great art design and a more kid-friendly approach, it even includes a child-safe scare mode so the scares don’t get too scary. However, I did encounter a few bugs that should now be patched that the game is in early access. You get to choose from various characters such as a heroic firefighter, mastermind lockpicker, insightful psychologist, or resourceful inventor. Use their unique skills to survive the night while a dark entity known as “The Shift” is on your tail. Each skill can help you in various ways. If you’re playing with friends each skill can help everyone to evade the shade. For example, the lockpicker can become the master of unlocking and get you out of a jam. The inventor has better use of the tools etc. Overall the Shadows are Alive is a fun time but needs a little more work while in the early access phase.
