Extraterrestrial Review

Still reeling from her parents’ divorce, April (Daytime Emmy winner, Brittany Allen) is dragged back to the vacation cabin she spent fond summers at as a child accompanied by a group of friends. Her trip down memory lane takes a dramatic and terrifying turn when a fireball descends from the sky and explodes in the nearby woods. Lead by her boyfriend, played by Freddie Stroma (Harry Potter & The Half Blooded Prince, Pitch Perfect), the group venture out toward the crash site and discover the remnants of a ship from another planet along with footprints that suggest its alien occupants are still alive. The college friends soon find themselves caught in the middle of something bigger and more terrifying than anything they could ever imagine.

If you're a fan of The Vicious Brothers previous film Grave Encounters. You're going to love Extraterrestrial. Extraterrestrial is a Sci-Fi horror film that takes the classic story of alien abduction with a spin only The Vicious Brothers can do. The story for the most part is engaging and interesting. What I like the most about the story is not the horror element of the aliens. I like the human story of our main character April. April is at a point in her life where she has a man the truly loves her, on her way having a great career but yet she's unsure of herself. Her relationship with her boyfriend is the main focal point of the film. April has everything but doesn't want it due to her fear of becoming like her parents.  Audiences will find to have a love or hate relationship with April. They will identify with her insecurity but find themselves screaming at her cause she has it all.

In order to find herself she travels to the vacation cabin of her parents to try to make sense of everything. Unfortunately April and her friends are pull right in the middle of an Extraterrestrial encounter. The film really picks up when the aliens land and start terrorizing the cabin. Like Grave Encounters The Vicious Brothers do well with the pacing. They don't reveal the alien right away they allow the tension to build up for it's big reveal. When the reveal of what the alien looks like I had a smile on my face. Fans of the original alien theories like Roswell will be happy to know the aliens looks similar to that. The aliens are menacing and hellbent on getting what they want. Once the movie gets going it doesn't stop as friends are taken, some even anal probe and April still have to face what she wants out of life. Overall the film is entertaining with some cool characters, funny moments and a twist of an ending. April is the focal point of the film and you will have a love her or hate her relationship. The film has pretty good jump scares and some cliche moments, however for the most part I was entertain. Time to get beam up into the unknown.
