Mortal Kombat Demo Impressions

Mortal Kombat demo was released for all PSN owners on Tuesday. If there is any concern whether Mortal Kombat will fail. Allow me to say that so far that this new game is back to basic. The demo allows you to play with four characters which consist of, Johnny Cage, Sub Zero, Scorpion and Mileena. The game plays like the old school Mortal Kombat games. A fighting game with the side scrolling appeal to it. The combos and fatalities are easier to perform. This is actually a welcome for people who never played the series. Fatalities are three arrow buttons and one button. Gone are the long combinations. This might upset some gamers, but I love it. Another great tactic added to the game is the X-Ray feature. When your fighting gauge is filled, press the shoulder buttons to unless a deadly attack, that is worthy of being the new Brutality. All I will say is Johnny Cage X-Ray attack is the most disrespectful to any man lol. The graphics are wonderful. The detail is environments are nice and we have stages from the good old 16 bit days. So far, so good. Mortal Kombat will be released April 19th 2011.

Jurassic Park The Videogame Trailer

Jurassic Park is coming back to the gaming world in April. The company Telltale Games will be releasing the game. The game is set during the first events of the movie. Honestly I'm really not sure what to think about this. Here is the trailer below. I love JP so I'm not sure what to think of this.

Xenoblade: Hands On Impressions

I've been playing Xenoblade for the Wii a lot lately. I must say that this game so far is one of the better JRPG's out there. Unfortunately it's still TBA to be released outside of Japan. However I couldn't wait anymore and decided to try the game out myself. Here is my impressions on the game so far.

Story - The story starts off years before the main story. Three guys are in a war and are facing a load of enemies. One of the guys betrays the other two and then we are brought to present day. This is where we meet the main character Shulka who is able to use the Excalibur sword, which is the same sword one of the three guys had before him. He is on mission to find the people that destroy his village. That's all I can make out for now. The story does seem intriguing but once again I don't know Japanese.

Gameplay - The gameplay is an action RPG. The battle system is similar to Final Fantasy XII, but BETTER! Running into enemies does not start a battle. Players will have attack their enemies first, using the Z button. Once the battle starts the inventory of various attacks are at your disposal. Don't worry once you use all your special attacks it will recharge. While it recharges your character will attack automatically with normal attacks. The battle system works and it's very fun to play. I haven't gotten very far, I'am currently grinding for the first dungeon. However I do want to say the controls are smooth and the camera is great. You use the C button and the D-pad to fix where you will like the camera. You can have it high, close or just normal. The side quest is cool as well. It actually effect how people in the town view you. If you help they will like you, if not well your won't be welcome much.

Gameplay Video

Graphics - So far the graphics are beautiful on the Wii. The towns and open environments are very detail. The opening scene with the war was great to watch. I love the use of colors and how this game looks at night.

Music - The music is composed by Yoko Shimomura who does it again. I'am going to search for this OST. The only thing about the music in terms of battle, it makes me want to play Kingdom Hearts it's that similar in style.

Final Word - So far Xenoblade is on the best JRPG's that came out in 2010. Unfortunately there is no sign that it will be hitting the USA or anywhere else. We can only hope it does, this game needs to be played by all.

Michael Jackson: The Experience: Hands On Impression

Hey my Otakus and Geeks. I know I've been busy with school and other things. A girl's work is never done lol. Anyway I had a blast at Comic Con. I will talk about meeting Ne-Yo, Funimation and the many more later. Today I wanted to talk about the Michael Jackson game coming for the Wii. Jamila from GirlGoneGeekBlog.com and myself went on stage to play the new game. This is a really fun dance game to play.

Gameplay - The game is a dancing game. We were playing the game with the song "Beat It." To play the game you hold the Wii mote and follow the choreography of the song. It works very well and you get to choose who do you follow. You can follow Michael as the lead or the back up dancers. Jamila and I were the back up, but there were times I found it hard to keep up, due to the controls. But the game will be one of the best dance games to come out in this year. The demo had a variety songs to choose from like, "Smooth Criminal" and "Billie Jean." Billie Jean seem to be the easiest to do, and Smooth Criminal seem to be the hardest. The game is going to be huge for those who want to dance like Michael. The presentation is great and each song has Michael as he appeared in the videos to guide you. If you want to be like the glove one, this is going to be the game to get. Our video of Jamila and I playing will be up later. Stay tuned. Mike Rules!!!!

James Bond "Bloodstone" Hands On Preview

New York Comic Con was a blast and is officially over. Now it's time to tell you otakus and geeks about the great games we played. The first game that I couldn't wait to touch was James Bond "Bloodstone." The great thing about playing this demo was that you actually got to catch with the developers of the game. The great thing about this demo is that you had a wide range of levels to play. Their was the driving level, boat driving level and shoot levels.

Story - Well the developer I talk to Sandy was very tight lipped on the story. However Sandy did ensure that the story is original. The story was written by the same writer who wrote Goldeneye. Sandy said "We are really trying to give players the feel of Daniel Craig's James Bond. As you know James Bond is aggressive and want players to see that side of Bond." Judging from the cut scenes I saw which I won't spoil the game doesn't disappoint on story. It is very action packed. The driving stages run very smooth. I didn't have no control issues whatsoever. As I was driving buildings were blowing up and cars were shooting at James. However you won't be able to drive and shoot at the same time. As Sandy said "It would be very difficult to drive and shoot at the same time." I love the realism the game brings.

Gameplay - First let me talk about the shooting level. This new James Bond game is a 3rd person shooter. Unlike other Bond games this won't be in 1st person. I actually like that this is 3rd person, because of the aggressive nature that they are going for. Daniel Craig's James Bond uses a lot of hand to hand combat. That wouldn't work in first person. The gameplay is like your usual first person shooter. However their are situations where you have to decide whether you should stealth or go out guns blazing. Bloodstone introduces a focus feature in the game. Depending if you use hand to hand combat, the focus meter will fill up. The focus meter slows down the action making it easier to take out multiple targets. It's a nice way to take out multiple enemies. The hand to hand combat is very brutal. I slammed this guys head against the wall taking him out for sure.

Graphics - The graphics are similar to Quantum Of Solace game but way better. Character models are environments are great too look out. The driving level explosion are great. I didn't get any glitches during the demo.

Sound - The music is the game is wonderful. Pure James Bond sound it's very epic. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench reprise their roles and from the clips shown it's what you can expect from them.

Overall this game might be the best Bond to come out in a long time. Check out our full review in November.

Pokepark Pikachu's Great Adventure Preview (Hands On)

Who would think that Pokemon would have so many issues. Issues not in terms of gameplay, but in terms of needing Pikachu's help. Today I took a look at Pokepark Pikachu's Great Adventures for the Wii. The game opens up with Mew telling Pikachu of a problem that is going on. Pikachu sets out to solve the problem and finds the Pokepark. You then are taking to a tutorial which shows you the basic controls.

The gameplay is pretty simple and basic from what I played so far. You hold the Wii Mote sideways. You utilize the D-Pad to move Pikachu. The B button is used to control the camera. I found the camera control to be a little clunky. For example when you jump from platform to platform, sometimes the camera won't go fully in the direction you wanted. The 1 button is used to dash. The 2 button is used to jump. The A button is used for the lighting attack. As the game progresses you will upgrade to new attacks such as Iron Tail. In the game you will be able to make friends, to help you with tougher opponents. This is a great feature and brings a strategy element to the game. There is mini games as well such as Tag, Hide and Seek, Pokemon Quizzes and Racing. The graphics is a great and I had no framerate issues. All the Pokemon so far that we seen played well. The music is colorful and goes well with the feel of Pokemon. We will have a full review when it's released in the holiday season 2010.
